Self Care

Why is self care so important?

Who is the most important person in your life?  Take a minute and think about it...
Your children? Your spouse? Parents?

The most important person in your life is YOU!
How many of you said yourself? Probably none!!

Its all too easy to get caught up in our busy lives everyday and neglect ourselves. From the minute we open our eyes we live at a fast pace, we care for others, work, pay the bills, keep house and then there is everything else in between. We focus all our time and energy on everyone else but what about us? What about YOU? You are the most important person in your life and everybody else's life so you need to look after YOU, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... as the saying goes.
It is so so important to take time for yourself to look after your mental, emotional and spiritual health and well being.
Self care can only be given by you for you and it it one of the most important things you can do for yourself, its about looking after and treating yourself as you would others. Only when we help ourselves can we help others, its all too easy to get lost in 'life' and forget about yourself, but how can you keep going without taking time to relax and re fuel? - A car wont run on empty and neither will you.

We care for family, pets, employers... add that to housework, shopping, after school activities and everything else its no wonder we don't have time for ourselves. Neglect your own needs and you will start to feel unhappy, depressed and low self esteem, the busyness and stresses of everyday life need to be balanced out with activities that bring us calm, relaxation and inner peace and well being.

Self care doesn't have to cost anything, it could be talking openly about your thoughts and feelings with a spouse or close friend. Taking time to read a book or put your feet up and watch a film, It could 10 minutes on your own to enjoy a coffee.
Meditation is great for self care and helping to relax, there are lots of guided meditation videos on You Tube that will guide you and help you.

Here is one of my favourite videos to listen to, give it a go if you have not meditated before, it really does help you relax and will help you with any anxieties you may have and help with the stresses of everyday life.
